Sendai Day 2: Umino Mori Aquarium

On our second day in Sendai, we visited the new Umino Mori Aquarium. While waiting for our bus, we walked around our beautiful, museum-like hotel.

This is just the second floor of the hotel. The second floor also includes a bridal gallery. They host a lot of events in this hotel, and apparently a lot of weddings. They have a wedding dress gallery. Guess which princess enjoyed that.

We really enjoyed our time at the aquarium, and wished we'd had more of it. We spent a lot of time just enjoying the large viewing tank. Usually I'm not impressed by these types of tanks if the sharks are small, but we loved this one. It was so soothing to watch that big school of fish swim around.

Getting ready to watch the dolphin show:

This trouble maker kept reaching for something next to the pool. The staff kept pulling it further and further away and the dolphin still kept reaching for it. Finally got it. It was hilarious.

Bye bye dolphins!

We ate lunch at the aquarium cafe. This was our view:

Outside, they had a kids play area set up like a beach. This was another favorite spot of ours at the aquarium.

Real (and alive) starfish that the kids could fish out of the pool. So cool!

I think our kids could have spent hours playing in this area, but sadly we had to get back to the bus.

Poor little guy was a trooper, even though he had been sick on this trip. We did have fun and we are glad we got to cross some things off our bucket list.
