Shipwreck Beach

What is known on base as Shipwreck Beach is located up in Mutsu Bay, east of Noheji. We followed the coordinates / directions on the Misawa ITT page. Unfortunately we couldn't really find a way to drive all the way down to the beach and had to walk a good long way.

That little white road on the map -  it was chained off. We tried a few other little roads and they were blocked off as well.

It did mean that we were able to walk by the giant mound of shells.

I don't understand why or how it is here, but it is really impressive.

Once we finally made it down to the beach we enjoyed a picnic lunch.

Then we enjoyed playing in the sand and water, exploring, and collecting sea glass.

Unfortunately the wrecked ship that used to be the beach has been removed. The very bottom of it remains (piled with sand and other beach trash) as well as a smaller overturned boat further down the beach.

  1. Your ever-growing sea glass collection totally fascinates me!
