Big Buddha

We drove up to Aomori City for the annual Nebuta Festival. We left early so we could stop by the Showa Daibutsu (aka Big Buddha) on the way. The Big Buddha was built in 1984 and is roughly 21 meters tall. It is the tallest seated bronze Buddha in Japan. It was impressive to see and the grounds of the Seiryu temple are beautiful and peaceful.

It was definitely a neat site to check off our bucket list.
