Sendai Day One: Zao Fox Village

We took an overnight trip to Sendai with ITT. It's about 4 hours from Misawa to the Fox Village at Mt. Zao, southwest of Sendai. The Bus stops twice before arriving at the Fox Village.

This is a trip we had been wanting to do since we moved here. We were really excited about it. Our excitement quickly waned when Caleb threw up on the bus. One night stuck away from home did not sound fun with a puking toddler, not to mention the fact that we'd only packed enough clothes for one night. Fortunately he didn't continue to throw up that day.

We were able to enjoy our time at the fox village, though it was a lot smaller than we anticipated and we quickly became disenchanted by the pungent aroma. Still it was a nice bucket list item. We really enjoyed feeding the foxes and watching them fight over the food. I also was able to pay to hold a baby fox, which the kids loved being able to pet.

I also got to wear some very fashionable attire

The fox village is in a very pretty area. I am obsessed with rice paddies. I love this scenery.

It was a long day of stressing over our ticking toddler time-bomb. We finally made it to our hotel - which looked like a museum inside.

After resting for a bit we walked down to the nearby outdoor mall for dinner.

It didn't take much for us to realize we weren't in Misawa anymore.

This street is just so iconically Japanese.

It's very exciting to travel with kids. You get the opportunity to eat all kinds of fancy things, like McDonalds. Thank goodness you can find McDonalds everywhere and that it is essentially the same everywhere. McDonalds keeps our kids alive.
