Skiing at Makado and Shichinohe

Our next ski trip was to Makado Ski Resort, near Mutsu Bay. Our friends had skied there a lot and the main attraction is the beautiful views from the top of the mountain.

That's right, while skiing, you can enjoy the beautiful Ocean view.

Makado also has a great beginner slope. Interestingly, the gentle slope is at the top of the mountain, up the second lift. The bottom half is actually quite steep and caused a lot of princess tears. Fortunately you can just take the 2nd lift until you are ready to go back to the lodge, so you only have to face the monstrous steep hill when you are finished.

Seaweed is more fun to play with than eat :D

Such a big girl

Skiing with friends

He's huge (he thinks so anyway)

I love these sledding babies.

Is it wrong that I love watching him fall over? So cute!

For our last skiing venture of the season we headed to Shichinohe, which is very close to home. Unfortunately it ended up being not very ideal. There were two slopes listed as being for beginners, but one of them ended up being much to steep for the females in our family. There was a very nice gentle slope that wrapped around the back of the mountain, making it quite long. Unfortunately about half of it was completely flat. Great for cross-country skiers, fairly miserable for the rest of us. We still had a fun day. Alivia ended up spending a lot of the day sledding with her friends and Simeon got to do lots of skiing with Daddy. When everyone else was tired out, he just kept going.

It's not the ocean, but it's still beautiful.

Skiing has definitely been a fun adventure for our family.
