Welcome to Misawa

In spite of it all, we finally made it to Misawa. Fortunately, going through customs when you fly on the Patriot Express is just a matter of filling out a form and getting a stamp in your passport (finally a perk!). After only little bit of confusion, we found our ride out of the airport and to our temporary lodging.

Everything about this car felt wrong. Every time the driver made a turn I felt like covering my face. I was sure we were going to crash and die, even though we were only driving 30 kph (abt 19 mph).

After living in hotels for almost 2 weeks, our 2 bedroom temporary apartment felt huge. It was really well designed and a great place for our family to catch up on some much needed sleep.

We definitely had a lot of adjusting ahead of us. C woke up happy and rested at 3am the next day. This is what Misawa looks like at 3am:

Is it just me, or is it way to bright outside for 3am? Yes, the sun rises around 4am in the summer. Yay?

We spent our weekend mostly relaxing and checking out everything within walking distance. It turns out we don't have to walk far in any direction on base before we come to a park. There are lots of different parks on base. They are all different and all fun.

I love these awesome trees:

We only had to stay in temporary lodging through the weekend. On Monday we were able to move into our house!

  1. For the record, it takes about 3 days of driving to start feeling comfortable driving on the wrong side of the road. After 2.5 weeks I find myself able to focus my thoughts on WHERE we are driving rather than on HOW to drive correctly.

  2. Holy crap! I had no idea it was that light out at that time of day!! That would make insomnia so much harder!

And those parks really are nice! Super fun!

  3. Those are really cool parks! I can't believe how bright and foggy at 3 am!! So does everyone have room darkening shades on the window?!
