Geto Kogen Ski Resort

Seth's patience couldn't wait for ski season to begin. Even though there wasn't a lot of snow in Misawa, he packed us all up (the day after Christmas) and we drove down to Geto Kogen Ski Resort in Iwate Prefecture. Geto is known for often having snow earlier than many of our more local resorts.

My van was in the shop, getting it's heater fixed; so we had to pack ourselves into Seth's little clown car. Surprisingly all our skis and bags for an overnight trip did fit.

Our first glimpse of the slopes

Just like riding a bike. They actually did have a tough time on their first run, since the slopes were icy.

This trip was Caleb's first time on skis. I can't tell you how excited he was - or how cute.

Seth walked him up the hill a ways so he could feel what it's like to slide down

Weeeeee!

Then it was time for the lift

He got a little scared up on the bunny hill, so he stayed in this super deep squat the whole way down. This is actually his second time I think. The first time, a friend had to hold the ropes for Seth, because Caleb wanted Seth to hold his hand.

We stayed the night in some cute cabins about half an hour from the resort (called the Santa House cabins).

The cabins have this living area, a bedroom with 3 beds, and a loft with 5 beds. We shared this cabin with friends.

Our second day was rainy in the morning, and wet all day long. It was also our first ski trip of the season, so our kids tired out pretty quickly. They spent more time inside eating snacks than they had the first day.
This is how Simeon likes to eat pocky - all in a bundle.

While waiting for Seth to load up the car, Caleb entertained himself, and everyone around, by pretending to be an airplane.
