Iwate Children's Forest
The kids and I spent a day at Iwate Kodomo no Mori (Children's Forest) with friends. This is such a cute (and FREE!) children's museum located right next to Okunakayama Ski resort.
There were several cute Japan-specific things like an onsen room and a sushi restaurant. There were also lots of children's museum classics like a play kitchen and a climbing area. The kids had a blast.
I hear they have a fun splash pad area outside in the summer. They also have a few rooms where you can stay overnight (would be a perfect place to stay for a ski trip).

I just stumbled on your blog Kristina! It was the in the top search sites for this fun location. We decided we needed to try this out before we left. Good to see your cute kids!!!
